/var/www/html/wp-content/themes/Divi/single.php New Year, Same Old Thing? | OBiiKE Fitness

For a couple of years now, our three kids have been given the responsibility of doing chores. They don’t get paid, it’s simply something they do as part of the family. However, our youngest who is 6 years old always seems to have the hardest time finding the energy or will power to put away the dishes. In fact, last week, we just finished eating dinner when she saw me open the door to the dreaded dishwasher. As I turned to her, she fell to the kitchen floor. “Nooooooo! Not the dishes AGAIN! Ugh why do I have to put the dishes away every… single…day??” To which I responded, “You like to eat every…single…day, right?”

I get it. To her, it seems like a new day, but the same old thing. Then, one day I decided to think of a way to make the dishes more enjoyable for her and it ended up being a simple solution. I kept her company in the kitchen while she worked! This gave her a sense of community and encouragement along the way. As a result, not only did she get the dishes done quickly, she actually enjoyed doing them!

So, what about you? What thing in your life do you hate doing or somehow dread even though you know it needs to get done? Or that it’s really good for you? If we are being honest, we likely have a list of things, and it seems that working out or getting healthy is on most people’s lists. At OBiiKE, we see fitness as a lifelong pursuit with ebbs and flows. Some months, it is easier to make it to the gym 5 days a week while other months, we are lucky if we can get to the gym once a week. What we have found to be true is that fitness is most attainable with community and consistency. In other words, you are more likely to stay consistent when you have a group of people who are going through the same experience as you. Plus, with that consistency comes results and great relationships!

Here at OBiiKE, we will help you stay motivated to conquer your fitness goals and have fun in the process. Suddenly, your perspective will change from “I have to work out” to “I can’t’ wait to work out and kill it!” So, as you plan your 2020 New Year’s resolutions, give yourself the best chance of actually enjoying and achieving your fitness goals by checking us out at OBiiKE Fitness! We would love to be a part of your fitness journey and encourage you along the way.

Come kick-off the New Year with us on Jan 4th at our OBiiKE’s 2020 Free Fitness, Food, & Fun Event.
