Coach Intro

Growing up I was the typical kid who loved sports. Basketball was my first love and I played throughout high school. At UIW I was fortunate enough to compete in the high jump, run the 400m dash, and play football. I was also fortunate enough to make the practice squad for the Dallas Desperados (Arena Football) for 2 years.

Turning Point

My turning point was during a practice in 2013 when I started helping teammates with tips and tricks to elevate their game. I found more happiness in seeing them excel than being on the field myself. After being released in 2014 I figured I could put my Psychology and Sociology degree to use by taking a position as a mental health counselor. Shortly thereafter, I found a Rec. Therapy program and became friends with the director. After spending time in their gym and explaining how there are positive correlations between fitness and mental health, I was offered a position as a Recreational Therapist. This is when I knew coaching fitness was what I wanted to do.

Motivation & Passion

My purpose in coaching is to help people understand that when they achieve their physical goals it also increases their confidence. Increased confidence leads to increased happiness. I want to make sure I connect the psychological part of fitness to my coaching. My favorite thing is when an athlete says they had a tough time getting to the gym, but are glad they came because they feel so much better.
